[edit] History is still in the making

Image:UnderBridge.JPG..in time we past the threshold or cross the bridge..into the never ending land as it unfolds.. Psalm 89:14

Righteousness and justice are the foundation of Your throne;
Mercy and truth go before Your face. (NKJV)
  • No free lunch
    No free lunch

What is History? Someone said, "It is His-Story" i.e. God's. The writer of Psalms within the Bible declared that the foundations of God's throne(rule) stands solidly upon the twin fourfold foundations of Righteous, Justice on one side and Mercy and Truth on the other..
This is correct prospective when we view history as His-story!

Down or sideway in History?
Down or sideway in History?
  • While Historians are still pondering what the future of this new second millennium (2000 onwards) would be like, there are obvious signs that it is coming to a highly volatile state of boiling or exploding into fragmentary pieces. The world had seen the first and second global conflicts, and the pressing question will be "will there be any signs for the next"? Has the United Nations failed in pursuit the role of making and sustaining peace around the globe? Has the Gap of the poor and the rich grown wider? Are there old unresolved conflicts and exploding world hot spots? Are there widespread diseases, floods and famines in many places?

Can there be a sustainable peace among conflicting nations? Races? Minorities? Injustices? Whatever? Has the clever leaders come back to the table to talk peace or are they for readying for another bigger confrontation? This has been the trail of the next stage set for the players of the world stage. We pray and hope God will have mercy on us, His insufferable inhabitants on earth!

  • IN secular history where God is denied as the God in History, the principles of history dealing with causes and events are obviously still there! It is repeating in cycles as if it is controlled by the invisible hand of one who allows it!
  • The Bible predicted many world events which had occurred, the Fall of the Babylonian Empire, the destruction of many cities, the Re-gathering of the Jews from all nations and the Formation of the State and Nation of Israel in 1948 and so on .
  • It also predicts the worldwide earthquakes, famines <in China and Africa> diseases and other calamities due to natural and man-made causes.
  • The Bible predicted the fast travel and the instant knowledge of information flooding around the Globe nearly three thousand years ago <Book of Daniel>
  • Even the two world wars seemed to be significant judgements upon the nations of the earth especially in relation to God's special dealings with his chosen people, Israel! When the Jews became contented with materialism, and became worshippers of foreign false deities , G_d himself see to it, that the chosen people return to him in repentance ! Hitler ' maybe a demon-god who ruled with an iron hand, but if there is NO second world war, there would never be or not likely to be any reason for the scattered Jews to want to return back to the Holy land and form a Nation! What we really see, was the old biblical prophesies in fulfilment! goto see Saddam Hussein' again for our present history
  • the Conclusion God's Story is His-story: He is the Sovereign Lord and King of all Nations! goto 2 see kingdom of God.
  • And Finally God is interested in making You part of His_story too! read on..lah!

[edit] God's story with mankind or world history?

God's story with the world can be view like a bird flying very high up and looking down at a stone structure of a pyramid. The base of the huge pyramid represent the earliest times before the creation of the visible universe when time cannot be measured in days or hours rather in the eons of billions or millions of year or more when everything pre-exist in the form of light and chaos. Possibly then the angels were created just before the beginning of tme. Here a symbolic representation or picture like the 365 steps great pyramid (which represented the calender of mankind)-- see the video of this mankind made calender 3

[edit] the unfolding of events past, present and future

As history is like a book it continue to reveals events in a continued space and time. the unfolding or revelations deals with God's mysterious secrets or those revelation occurs as the seemingly unwritten words would be filling up the spaces.. with its predictions fulfilled, when the pages are turned. The great prophet
Daniel was given the revelation of the many events in his immediate history and even to the end of the time
Daniel's prophesies were written, and many can be found in the Old Testaments part of the ancient Bible and were found to be both genuine and truth in both accuracy and historical facts.

[edit] the Bible with many end time prophesies

Many great events were recorded in the Bible as well as in the ancient archaeological stone tablets, and the Bible is still the greatest written records covering all aspect of the human culture in the past and present especially detailing< those inclination of a so-called> fallen nature of mankind! Literally thousands (if not many hundreds of prophetical events and precise information) are related to God's special purpose for mankind.

If you have not seen or read the Bible, go get one, and read for yourself those records especially about prophecies in the Bible and you will be amazed by the truth of this wonderful book known as "God's Word"!

[edit] The Bible declare..In the beginning <.> God..ie everything (all created visible universe start with God, and even time itself..)

Time is a limitation just as the small space we fill up with our little bodies..however God who as it were continue to dwell in eternity from time to time can never or cannot be limited by space nor time! Yet one of the amazing account in the Bible dealt with the Messiah .. in fact the few pages after the fall of mankind, God made a promise towards giving mankind the hope of eventual redemption or salvation! It is this amazing promise (Messiah) which continued with a long, long series of God's dealing with fallen mankind from the Call Abraham to Moses, then to Noah and the flood, then all the way to the {{Chronicles]] with the historical events of the small tribe of Israel through the Kings and Prophets in which the accounts of of fallen mankind are found in the written records until the New Testament! Why is it so amazing..well the almost impossible (with us) become a possibility .. when the limitless God of eternity became one among us (mankind!)..to be limited by time and space!

[edit] The importance of History in education

What is your purpose in life? Before you were born, God already planned all for you, i.e. if you really believe in God and it's doesn't matter even you don't!

All are setup for your destiny because God the Giver and Author of life cares about you in the innermost of your being.
Someone wrote: We are made for eternity. It has never been natural to die, life has meanings only when you find out what's that God's purpose for you too
While Philosophers debated whether God really cares about us(we always in conflicts, wars so on with so many disasters & happenings) it is a fact of history that God has been overseeing all human activities and put up many sign posts (warnings, stops etc!) for humanity to heed. God alone allow kingdoms to rise and then to fall when those foundational pillars of life are violated. See the Fall of Saddam Hussein is a good example. Where is the Egyptian, Greek or Roman Empire? Each has fallen accordingly, and the so many other smaller kingdoms or bigger empires all around us. Many corrupted cultures have also disappeared. Will old Great Britain stands ? Will the superpower USA? All such empires will stand or falls upon how well they adhere to those foundational pillars of God!.

Image:Oldgovernor.JPG What is the secret of the success for the education of the mind of millions of Americans and British people in conquering the world with new inventive ideas, wonderful inventions plus the fact they were the ones who really are the old and the new masters of the world: the answer is simply the education of minds of their people in history. In Singapore our young people were taught and are still being taught their lessons in the Maths,Triple sciences and usually undermining the importance of .. We produced a generation of wonderful GARMEN beaurocrats, technocrats, economists, and experts in many fields of medicine.. but everyone including those so successful in their ambitions and President's scholars seem to be lacking in one simple thing: the inspiration to be more than just robotic, artificial existence with so meaningless in living except...making more money and create new ideas to do so..Is that your purpose in life too?

[edit] History in the curriculum?

HISTORY IN THE CURRICULUM Only a few generations ago a person was deemed not to be educated when he or she failed to show a passing familiarity with historical events, and that usually meant the history of ancient Greece and Rome. And despite the vast curricular changes in higher education over time, history still manages to survive as a central component of one's education in the broad sense and, at [John Jay], as a core requirement for the baccalaureate degree. At any rate, there are important social and pedagogical reasons for the inclusion of history in general education requirements at college level. An informed citizenry (and what merit a college education if one be not 'informed'?) is our best resource for the maintenance of benificent institutions or customs and the discarding of outworn or outmoded ones. The varying subjects you will grapple with over your college career all have a purpose, of course, whether according you professional and occupational skills or yielding the general knowledge and training that enable you to meet life's challenges and opportunities with some degree of assurance. History, along with literature and philosophy, fall into the latter category here, forming the so-called 'humanities' core of the enduring liberal arts curriculum. Each plays its part in moulding one's character and outlook (or at least those parts of us that can be shaped and patterned after the travails of growing up!). Because of their absorption with the human condition in its universal aspects--triumph and tragedy, glory and despair, certainty and doubt--these disciplines play their special role in helping one to reason more closely, judge more maturely, assess evidence more sceptically and perceive relationships more fully. In addition, history offers its own enhancement to most other disciplines by affording the essential background to a better understanding of the contemporary world--laws and customs, science and medicine, culture and society, science and medicine, national state and local agency, and much else besides.

The student must also be aware that history is, after all, the written record and that, as such, it cannot present an unchallengable record of events in every instance. We've been able to sort out the myths and legends of the distant past but, for the more recent past, the lack of a written record or the fabrication of one, do not always allow the historian to arrive at answers fully acceptable to the profession. But that is only natural, for history is about asking questions, questions about the past. And historians, who are usually the ones doing the asking, inevitably ask different questions and we are left to judge between their answers. Fortunately, the more questions asked, the greater one's historical imagination, and the sharper one's critical insight, then the better the approach to the answer to what actually happened. That's why books are continually produced on exactly the same historical events, telling us more than what we knew before or offering a more plausible interpretation of long-disputed facts. So not only will the study of history keep publishers busy but, in the process, happily bring us ever closer to the truth.

In strictly pedagogical terms, the course requires you to amass a certain amount of knowledge about the past by means of the lectures and assigned reading. Furthermore, it is designed to improve your writing skills via written examinations. Best of all, the sheer quantity, variety and complexity of the historical issues we'll discuss will (should?) lead you toward the beckoning heights of mental activity, namely, "critical thinking." All this will prove invaluable for your educational development and eventual academic success. Alas, as things stand at John Jay, your historical studies here will be rather limited in relation to the number of elective courses available and the breadth of the curriculum offered. John Jay, as a school of criminal justice, is a special-mission college and, hence, is denied the full range of liberal arts majors, history being among them. Nevertheless, the importance of the subject as part of your formative college experience is acknowledged in the baccalaureate requirement of the sophomore year six-credit block, His 231 and His 232. Of course, many of you will also choose to enrol in one or more of the mainly criminal-justice-oriented history electives while a cherished few will actually opt for a minor in history. Nor should anyone forget that history is basically a subject that is learned not taught and, therefore, reading about it can be a lifelong and interesting personal avocation.. adapted from 7

[edit] I think

Image:Fountain.JPG
Therefore I am . see identity

But really who Am I? That's not a obvious answer for everyone! There was a famous person and a great Imposter. He was a good at it, and a professional, I may say. Back then in the 16-century, very few people know about what the world really like. They coined such word as the "Orient" for places far away such as the Far East Islands. see con artists
Back in the 1700s in England, this Person <George Psalmanazar> came to visit and then stayed on until he died. He had a funny name and claimed to be from Formosa. To really cover up for what he really don't know he made up stories about the Formosans, their strange diet, their culture and even their strange religion. The people who questioned him know no better because the rare few sailors and adventurers who ever went and come back alive were often too uneducated to even tell others what the Far East really was like. So our imposter was a great success because he was able to make up for what people want to hear and though they find it strange to believe all the things he mentioned, they really wanted what he told them. He was also a strange person, for instance, he would eat his meat uncooked and with plenty of spices. The noted and famous Royal Geographic Society even wanted him to give speeches and tell them what the Formosans were like. People like Dr. Samuel Johnson were good friends of this guy. Although many questioned him, few really could beat him at his game. There was this famous astronomy scientist who discovered the Halley comet, and he asked this guy about what the sunlight would look like on a certain time of the year in the house of a Formosan chimney. Would the sun be seen inside the house through the chimney? No never, said the imposter! Therefore, the scientist thought he caught his strange imposter on the facts! However added the imposter, the Formosa built their entire chimney in a crooked way that is why they never would see the sun! Beaten by an imposter again! Do you know even the Bishop of London supported this guy!
What was this guy name? Please tell more if anybody find anything else on the Internet! Was it Joseph Conrad or George Orwell ? No, it was someone with a strange name. but here's a challenge: go to Brunei and look for George Psalmanazar by searching more facts about court imposters and the strange occupations in wikipedia. The Answer will be found here 8clik>> here again 9 so I think I am can 10fantasia or fanatical, just like the book written by ..see below
  • In our modern time we have a famous writer and a good bestseller at telling stories too His name is St.Dan Brown

[edit] Those Big Operators

  • of Casino, one of them said: I have a dream , one nite.. so the casino could well be be a dream from one of them people lah ..goto see 12just like the Macau dream ? Obviously his Macau dream is coming true too. Did anyone has a famous dream as famous as Martin Luther King once said, " I have a dream..."*Is it time to dis-allow those with BIG GUNS and Bigmouths manipulate our little Island's policy and direction we should take? May I suggest that if the GARMEN should decide on the issue of casino, that the reins of the scheme be in Singaporeans' hand , it is our destiny, we should never throw it to the winds. Those Big Guns are only interested in their own pocket, they often leave us behind high and dry! Yes what is to commit a few billions here when their first interests is to make gains. They will leave us a dying place where all our GREAT strength in trading, businesses and a hard-working honest nation be depleted of our energies in the growing casino industry, which BTW had been dying in Genting, Macau, Las Vegas and Europe where the poor Prince had left for his ancestral home. Foreseeing it in the near future, will it <also> die in Singapore? We hope we never will be that burying ground for the growing industry of gambling, let others do it! The Government had done a good job of looking into issues and resolving them in ways that shows wisdom and foresight as well as hinder sight, so obviously Singaporeans trust the people in the Administration. It is not a habit of my mine with an eye for details. I like to generalize, and oft I admit my surmisings have been wrong, other time I am right. Of late the issue of the Casino has grown hot here. Yesterday in the Channel news media, I heard and saw a few of those smooth talkers, mainly to convince the listeners of the positive aspects of the issue. I am not against nor for, it is an issue, which we are facing now, and whatever decision made after April 18 will be history. That’s probably what majority of Singaporeans feel- neither against nor for. Passive i.e.
  • Just as I listen, I was paying most of my attentions to the words used to smooth it out by the smooth talkers . One of them mentioned about the “Gambling Industry in Singapore”. My ears still didn’t register much, until later when I began to break out and think from my own prospective.
  • When did anyone ever mention it as “Gambling Industry in Singapore”? It is my first lucky occasion to catch it and to hear it. Moreover, what‘s in an “industry”? We have the construction sector, the shipping and Cargo forwarding sector, the manufacturing sector and so forth, and those are never mentioned in the sense of “growing” industry compared with the new term “gambling Industry”.
  • For my thoughts went back to the early days when the British Empire was said to never seen the sun set because it had her fleet of Naval vessels and people all over the round globe busying with collecting taxes and revenues for the huge colossal empire of the British common wealth.
  • Even in the heydays of British supremacy, they had never thought of the word to apply growing industry in the art and practice of gambling. Today in Britain, I saw it with my own eyes, it has become a dying industry. Don’t forget the British introduce racing, betting, and all forms of gambling including the Casino Industry too.
  • Mind, mind how our modern vocabulary changes with the addition of complex words and phraseology! I would our Singaporean go to U.K. and try their luck with some of the betting parlors. They will be happy to see someone from Singapore, and you will find few crowds around the Pools whether it is Liverpool or football pools, lah! British people are never fools for they conquered the world with ships and bigmouthed words, but their generations after the Beatles (1970s) seem more so, by betting at the Pools!
  • In the olden days, we said to be pycho_logised or brained washed by the ruling Governments <Communists use ithe technics of brainwashing> but now we have the smooth talkers!

[edit] money laundering

In US law, money laundering is the practice of engaging in financial transactions to conceal the identity, source, or destination of illegally gained money. In UK law the common law definition is wider. The act is defined as "taking any action with property of any form which is either wholly or in part the proceeds of a crime that will disguise the fact that that property is the proceeds of a crime or obscure the beneficial ownership of said property." In Spore..MAS relates to drug trafficking, terrorism and a host of united nation rulings see15..any amount more than $30,000?...figures cannot be taken out of country unless approved or reported. Any single note of 10K needed a person's identity be recorded by the issuing bank. (Law in bank transactions regard are flexible..)

[edit] Thousands in Asia held over World Cup bets

More than 5,000 people have arrested across Asia as part of a World Cup operation against illegal gambling, police say.

Almost $10m was seized during the crackdown in China, Malaysia, Singapore and Thailand, the international police force Interpol said. Police in those countries "identified and raided nearly 800 illegal gambling dens", Interpol announced.

The dens handled more than $155m (£100m) worth of bets, it added. Continue reading the main story “Start Quote The results we have seen are impressive”

[edit] China foils online gambling ring

During Operation Soga III, which ran from 11 June to 11 July, police seized assets including cars, bank cards, computers and mobile phones.

Interpol, which facilitates international police co-operation, is based in the French city of Lyon.

Police forces around the world now hope that the information gathered will lead them to more people involved in illegal football gambling.

[edit] Online network

The crackdown would also have a long-term impact on organised crime gangs, said Interpol's chief of police services, Jean-Michel Louboutin.

"The results we have seen are impressive, not only in the number of arrests and seizures made across the region in just one month, but in terms of the police co-operation which made this possible."

He added that the operation had also been a blow to corruption, money laundering and prostitution, and said football gambling had clear connections to those offences. Interpol coordinated similar crackdowns in 2007 and 2008, codenamed Soga I and Soga II. In total all three Soga operations led to nearly 7,000 arrests and the seizure of more than $26m (£17m), Mr Louboutin said.

Last week details emerged of a Chinese gang accused of running a sophisticated online betting network in the run-up to the World Cup.

The gang, which was broken up last month, was alleged to have accumulated more than 100bn yuan (£9.7bn; $14.8bn), Chinese state media reported.

[edit] Today is April

the First, so what for today:

  • Hoaxes are not true. see falsehood
  • April First Day is also known as "April Fools Day" just like Singapore Pools for Singapore Fools! a difference of one small letter, lah!
  • "At first glance, the headlines sound plausible: Shark leaps from ocean to attack a hovering helicopter. Mild winter brings Swiss a bumper spaghetti crop. Taco Bell Corporation purchases Liberty Bell from U.S. Government. Alabama legislature votes to change the value of the mathematical constant pi. But they are all lies.
  • The April 1998 newsletter put out by New Mexicans for Science and Reason (NMSR) contains an article titled "Alabama Legislature Lays Siege to Pi." It was penned by April Holiday of the Associmated Press (sic) and told the story of how the Alabama state legislature voted to change the value of the mathematical constant pi from 3.14159 to the round number of 3.
  • Happy April Fools' Day. In celebration of the day, National Geographic News has compiled a listing of some of the greatest hoaxes in history. They are the lies, darned lies, and whoppers that have been perpetrated on the gullible and unsuspecting, probably since humans evolved the art of speech. "

Continuation from Previous section on Current Events in Singapore and nearby Asia.

  • A good guess is what will happen in this small world of people who are constantly at odds with one another. Just a few days ago, the most populated Country of the People's Republic of China made another rule. It is to include the other long lost brother into the large family whether the other brother agree to comply or not. Wow-lah , it is NOT meant to create trouble but obviously it will a great precedent in the Great family long standing dispute. But it is just a small dispute about who is going to be in control of the family. Will they have another shameful family fight? Most likely no. It is not right to fight, nobody win in a fight! but if the rule go into "default" as history moves, it may be another collison of two brothers. 14 17 Who knows? I wonder.
  • The famous "Mao suit", worn by Chinese leaders in the decades since the 1949 revolution, is on the verge of disappearing from China, as the fashion-conscious younger generation shuns the previously common style of dress in favor of the latest apparel offered by modern designers. I was talking with another compatriot from Mainland China, and he remarked about the Communist party in China? "It is a joke" he said. One wonder what the implications are, perhaps I should ask him again. People don't respect the party anymore, and so it is trying to re-gain the old glory? But going to WAR to get some glory(?), hey people die, you know, please DON'T. lah! I wonder too.
  • Taiwan President responded to anti-succession laws:President Chen Shui Bian responds:

It seems to have been about the last person on Taiwan to say anything about this law; this is partly because he wanted to see the text of the law before responding, and also (I suspect) so he could guage public opinion before saying anything. He released a 6 point statement on the law yesterday. Along with a promise of a protest in Taipei with 1 million people on the 26th March 2005. They estimated a third of a million came and they filled the Streets. But people in the streets know better, there is not going to be a war with that turnout! 18

  • CNN reported this : TAIPEI, Taiwan -- Hundreds of thousands of Taiwanese have marched on their capital to protest Beijing's new law sanctioning the use of force if Taipei moves toward formal independence. 19165.21.154.13 11:07, 30 Mar 2005 (SGT)

[edit] Let's get on with life,

Or life will go on with or without YOU! BTW, what time is it NOW? My wife told me to get some GREEN Tea for her colleagues at work (in the Hospital) I tried NTUC to find some organic brand Green tea, NONE! Green is good, lah! goto News on Yahoo which has this to report: (Just to update here: My wife found <on Sat> some organic green at the AMK NTUC, and if it is available, go grab it lah~! )

  • Researchers at the University of Murcia in Spain (UMU) and the John Innes Center (JIC) in Norwich, England have shown that a compound called EGCG in green tea prevents cancer cells from growing by binding to a specific enzyme. [[1] (http://story.news.yahoo.com/news?tmpl=story&cid=571&e=4&u=/nm/health_greentea_dc)] SORRY-LAH THIS WEBSITE IS archived by yahoo, go search for green tea and EGCG compound in another site! If you are interested, there is another site here 18 20

Good or bad news ,please tell me , I don't drink much green tea , it's too expensive for me! So if you are afraid of getting cancer go for green tea ! Good job (advertisement) here for all our green tea sellers, packers and some of our lucky tea farmers in China . Here are some responses from readers

  • Wow lau, green tea is expensive already, they said it is good for slimming too!
  • But another said, my father drink tea all his life and still get cancer of the stomach lah, I don't believe it, it's advertisement for Green tea.
  • We've been told salmon is good for cancer, cabbage is good for cancer, brocoli, red carots etc, etc..Now tea, so I just eat normaly and worry less, if I die early I've to go.
  • Tea, yes I drink tea but it is not good for me, I had that stuffs that's come out of my stomach to my mouth, and it gives me funny taste, but after meal is okay for me.
  • The coffee shops already charges a cup of plain tea known "fishing" 70cents, it's going up again. Nobody sells plain water in coffee shops except when I order tea, prices are up, it's scary enough for me.
  • A constant visitor to old Mainland China remarked: oh! he chuckled, they use to give us big packets of free tea leaves to takeaway, Now i know why they don't <practice> do it, it's more like giving Gold !
  • I think the Singapore PAP (Govt) should set another new precedent , a new toll fee for tea imports! It's the best President scholar's chip for the take, maybe I hope our MPs don't read this page here..all our tea-takers will kill ME!

[edit] Tea and opium don't mix

History is always repeating itself.

  • I remembered seeing the old movie "Taipan" which tells the story of tea and opium. (goto more info on "tai-pan" in the internet!)The Chinese collected tons and tons of silver cash in those days and all the westerners wanted was one thing: tea . So what to do lah? Shall westerners not sell anything that the Chinese could have wanted? Isn't there anything they could possibly want? So they get their big guns going and established a few places in Shanghai, Canton and a few of trading ports which would sell or exchange opium , and collect back all the cash for tea. Cash in and cash out, = trading no problem man! So, the story became the saga of the big guns and the opium wars.

Do you know what some Chinese doing nowadays for money? The underground ones <ghosts.ssh!> are selling opium in the refined form back to those people in the West!

  •  ?????? what? about cash-in NO? and tea?
  • Why do people get addicted to smoking? To opium? To gambling? To idols ?

etc..I guess it beat me, I don't know. The ancient people said, it's in human naturally! And the next question is

[edit] Can anyone overcome any addictions

The Answer is obviously yes, but one needs to suffer a little, like in cold turkey treatments.

  • Is gambling altogether wrong?

That would depend upon motives: someone may want to venture out and try to gain some experience and probably make some profits, we don't say this is wrong. But to gamble away hard earned cash is obviously wrong and a bad habit_lah. Have to quit, yes just quit it Okay! For instant, I am addicted to "thinking about 4D and Toto all the times", so I change my habits into something good. Like I refused to go to those places where they have 4D and Toto, I set my mind to do come reading <in the library>, get involved in some social help activities <volunteering> or even stay home to surf the Internet and read up on issues as in Politics and also interact with those on the forum etc. Or I just go out cycling far away to odd places like there are always many places one has never go in Singapore alone, so explore the local little world. Go China town, little India, Moonstone lane, Butterfly avenues, and one can find a short way to get to Woodlands and then jump into Malaysia on a bicycle! <Over_see_lol!> Better if you try some new things to do than let your wander back into $D and Toto, then it may be worse "Casino" ! Alternatively, if I will you, I join a church fellowship and enjoy their fun, food and the entire positive plus, why not? Be a Christian is a great idea_lah!

[edit] The Casino Issue is closed?

  • It seems like it, Sands is an American corp., ready to offer to build it here in Singapore for a couple of billions, Good or bad news? It seems like a foregone conclusion on the issue by the local papers here. But the MPs and the house people has yet to decide, so talk it out people ! They are coming here to edify our place our homes with another Big American icon, the Cas-In No? Do we need it or want it here, make a mark in history today talk it out somewhere. I think they moved to take over in Macau business, lah
  • People die, people cry and it's not a problem, and we all just go by! So one of the big guns from the western counterparts start to tell us it is a 3.4 billion question 19 21 Enough for the Govt (1.4B) and all that extra for every child, boy or girl and every person here in Singapore, and it's sure pure profit ! We will be richer by far. Question is how do they get their calculations ? People flocking in from the faraway places like the States and all over Europe? Maybe, but I reckon if they spent $100 on their one arm bandits machines, it would NEVER made up the sum of 3.4 billions per year! To watch those people crowding around the tables here? It's not likely, lah! I reckoned it has to come from the rich people somewhere, you tell me! It is not a guess . It does not need those Doctorates and President's scholars to figure this out! We outsource our stuffs to those big factory owners in those places where the labors are cheap, then they made our billions, so let's get it back! Cash in? No? Of course, all visitors are welcome to the Casino! Only Singaporeans will have a gate entrance fee to pay, lah. Logic also say majority of Singaporeans will head for the Casino in no time, period!
  • Our P.M. Said to watch for the news on whether they will vote "yes" or no for the casino on April 18th! Go for your papers in the neighborhood before it goes out, remember Okay! He lectures us on "Casinos,Change and Cohesion" very warm and full stage response, lah! see "Review" in the Strait Times on Tuesday (22.3.2005)

[edit] Remember the Lady Thatcher said

There is no free lunch165.21.154.110 18:23, 16 Mar 2005 (SGT)

  • I am not surprised that the local New papers front paged with "Free lunches and free rides then payback with court litigations" on 22.3.2005!
  • The real question is how much of that money really goes to the average Singaporeans. Our Govt. is wealthy enough, do we need that kind of money? Is it worth the while to be identified with Macau,Genting etc the gambling world? Plus the consequences of such a choice as to be negatively

identified as "a gambling City" etc. Your choice will be known by April 18 when the Govt. will decide for everybody. We should be allowed to not just to voice our opinions, perhaps a referendum on such issue is another imperiative as it will make or break our social fabric of life.( Note our P.M. talk about Casino. Change & cohesion  ! I wonder did he do his surfing here on this Portal? on Review in the S.T. on 22.3.2005 ) Perhaps such a hasty decision should be postponed until the business turn around in the future, not now! 165.21.154.114 07:44, 17 Mar 2005 (SGT)

  • So like Mr. Phua Chu Kiang, let's go to Genting and pick up our victim! See below ..contd.. Than again, think of your children and future grand-children they all will be working as croupiers 20 [22] and all those fine-dressed uniformed waiters and watchers at the CAS-In no, Lah!!! They will all learn to SMILE and say, welcome here!~ It's cash-in, well why not?
  • Well, in order for all to get their "free lunches" they are required to sing and clap their hands, and do as everybody like goose and geese do in among the friendly peoples in Fiji Island. goto see pic .......>>

[edit] No free lunch

An Interview with Mr. Tan a LOVER of Genting

  • Sir, May I know your name or please tell us how would you like our audience to address you.

Answer: Just Mr. Tan will do!

  • So what do you do for a living?

Answer: Exporting garments, mainly oversea, we have some local buyers and distributors here too.

  • Would you like to tell us how’s business, kindly elaborate a little for our audiences and maybe tell us some promotions, won’t you?

Answer: Yes we mainly sell to countries where we have already ready buyers. Business is okay, we are surviving. But among local here, it is difficult, Singaporeans are spoilt for choices, and the clientele is small. You can find lots of sales for bra, children clothing etc, etc everywhere, we don’t need to promote more.

  • So Mr. Tan, what do you do for pastimes, do you have any getaway holidays? Well, like with your family for holidays?

Answer: I traveled lots, but lesser now. So I really don’t care to go away. With family we love to go to Genting, it is nearby and the children can enjoy their short breaks from school. I can come back anytime.

  • So Mr. Tan Genting is also famous for its Casino, do you ever go to the Casino with the whole family?

Answer: No, they don’t allow children, and my wife did not like it at all. But I used to love there, yes at the Casino.

  • And Mr. Tan, do you win often? Perhaps you would give us some advices from your point of your view and perhaps for audiences here in Singapore?

Answer: Well the issue of casino is still hot in Singapore. I don’t want to suggest any answers whether for or against. I do win a little, but I lose tons of money! But personally I have one simple rule to follow. Genting is a very dangerous place to go. We can win easily and lose lots in a short time. So when I go there, I don’t bring my credit cards , and I stay as long as one day and no longer. I bring some money but no much. At one time I had to cut up all my credit cards when I remembered I signed so many times for so many K <thousands> that I almost lose all, nearly my business and my life too. It takes me a long time to get back, but I was lucky.

  • But sir, Mr. Tan you really are someone! an exception to the rule of Don't go anywhere without it!. I understand you also said you love to go to Genting, and visit the Casino? Do you still like it?
  • Well Mr. Tan, Thanks you so much, I am sure our audience will appreciate and remember your advice:

Don’t bring your credit cards to Genting an advice worth the take? YES!

my old 10k on the table
.. I bet, & I won_lol165.21.154.108 14:11, 20 Apr 2005 (SGT)
  • Answer: Oh yes, we all do, Singaporean like to flutter and try our lucky without being seduced in totally by Lady Luck. But compared with other forms of gambling, e.g. stocks are slower and okay, it is also a reasonable form of investment for short term holdings, 4D and Toto are really okay if you not spending your fortune away. However, horse racing bets are more dangerous, one can get hooked and lost more in a little time. Moreover, with Casino, you are playing with hard earned money and you are not in a position to make rationale choices within reasons. In a few minutes I <once> lost my ten K and I signed up with my ten credit cards and lost even more what I cannot afford. I nearly sign away my family, my business and my own life! Business is not so bad, I suggest holding on to it, it will change, don’t put your hope in instant fortune on anything. Easily come, so easy to go too!
  • very bad joss
  • my old 10k on the tablelah? Guess lah, yes, it's a bit about it But really recently... Our new P.M said I could take a bet.I think I win for sure.. (Singapore will have a Cash-ino) but someone wrote "Merrill reckons a third of an estimated $2.1 billion a year in revenues from the casino resort will come from tourists. Critics say the rest would inevitably tap the earnings of vulnerable families such as the Lees.." < SimonLee family all die_HOR!>. 23 Will he and his cabinet go for cash-in-no.. The answer is YES Our P.M. Lee said "we have to close ranks and go on" . My comments: He does not have that kind of JOSS as his MM Father & old record shows. But with the New Ministers, his own supporters and old loyalty behind him, He will bring out as a new venture for his first attempt as P.M. It may means 'made or break' ( I really wish I am wrong but I already show that my note is useless as torn - meaning I really wanted him not to go on this venture and chose the cash-in stuffs, it's not the best for the people or his own future but one vote is not going to change his opinion.)

I don't bet with anybody except myself! Sorry for all the punters in Singapore! So watch it out for the NEWS on April 18th,2005.

  • 4 people die

in a whole family! That's bad,bad-er and worse! Their preacher said they are good church goers and attend their church BUT being involved previously in gambling, that's a bad SIN as involved in Ca-Sin-no. The church prayed and helped. Lately their son's celebrated his birthday in Genting , but the father spent the 4k on the table, lah , So he repented, and need to repent again! and it wasn't any celebrations. So Genting was the root cause! Wah-lau , can it be? Who knows? So the issue of Ca-sin-no is going to be no. No, No! "period". That's is badnews for all businesses, it going down without the Ca-sin-no! N.B. I wonder that's why people everywhere are burning more and more JOSS! People need to turn the fong=sui, it's bad business, needing a turn a round lah ! 165.21.154.111 10:21, 13 Mar 2005 (SGT) re-copied from past archives by165.21.154.14 04:17, 23 Mar 2005 (SGT)

[edit] The ancient Egyptians Chinese and Indians

Biological knowledge of Egyptians, Chinese, and Indians Papyri and artifacts found in tombs and pyramids indicate that the Egyptians also possessed considerable medical knowledge. Their well-preserved mummies demonstrate that they had a thorough understanding of the preservative properties of herbs required for embalming; plant necklaces and bas-reliefs from various sources also reveal that the ancient Egyptians were well aware of the medicinal value of certain plants 2,000 years before Christ. Even earlier (c. 2800 BC), a work now ascribed to the Chinese emperor Shen Nung described the therapeutic powers of numerous medicinal plants and included descriptions of many important food plants, such as the soybean. Furthermore, the ancient Chinese not only utilized the silkworm Bombyx mori to produce silk for commerce but also understood the principle of biological control, employing one type of insect, an entomophagous (insect-eating) ant, to destroy insects that bored into trees. As early as 2500 BC the people of northwestern India had a well-developed science of agriculture. The ruins at Mohenjodaro have yielded seeds of wheat and barley that were cultivated at this time. Millet, dates, melons, and other fruits and vegetables, as well as cotton, were known to this civilization. Plants were not only a source of food, however. A document, believed to date back to the 6th century BC, described the use of about 960 medicinal plants and included information on such topics as anatomy, physiology, pathology, and obstetrics.
